A D & D 3.5 Oct 17th-18thThis is our Second All Weekend DnD event. I (Boboko) ran the first one with the help of a friend. This time my wife Siren will be taking up the gauntlet. We had 10-15 people at the last event and our guess is to have about the same this time. We have made an open invite to people from the various LARPS we belong to. This is a chance for you to rub elbows with some Frostlanders, some Fox Valley By Nighters (Long running Oshkosh based LARP, as opposed to some of the others that had also used the name), and some Newlarpers. Along with this, a variety of people who just know Siren and I. I am posting this on behalf of Siren. If you are interested in coming pm Boboko or post here and we'll get contact information. Dates--October event (October 17-19) Location--Menasha Joe (Someone you probably don't know) has offered us the use of his house located in Menasha. I'll have to get a more exact for those who are interested. Characters and Setting--Characters will start at 8th level. We will not 'level up' characters in the normal sense, but there will be opportunities for you to improve your character in the course of the event. However, your options will be limited, so if there is something that you will desperately need in order to have fun, let me know ahead of time and I'll see if I'm nice enough to allow you to get it. The PCs will all be students at an 'advanced school of magic and adventuring'. Think of it as a graduate school for adventurers. As such, I expect most of the PCs will be in their early to mid 20s unless they are non-traditional students, also they should have 8 levels of undergraduate education either at another school or as equivilent life experience. For the actual location of the school I am planning on using an map of some part of Eastern Europe so that we can have an idea of actual travelling distances. I don't know exactly what part yet, but that gives you an approximate idea of nearby bodies of water, climate, terrain, etc. What I need from you--First, let me know if you'd like to play. Second, provide me with a copy of your character once you have it. I would prefer Hero Forge files in the form of .xls or .hf, but if you don't have access to Excel, you can just email me all of the pertinant information. Please also send along a short character background explaining your character's life up through 8th level. Third, if you're the type that likes to make characters, or comes up with concepts easily, I would appreciate a few extra 8th level characters to use as other students in the school, these would be NPCs and/or backup characters. I could also use a few concepts for teachers at the school. I will come up with the actual stats and abilities, but if you have an idea of a teacher that you would love to see at an advanced adventurer's school, feel free to pass them along. Finally, let me know if you would be interested in assisting with GMing the event. I'm planning on having several mini-missions that would allow for different people to GM parts of the weekend while still playing in the rest. So, if you have a short (2-3 hours) adventure idea that would work with this concept that you'd be interested in running, let me know. I think that's all I've got for now. If there's anything I forgot to cover just ask. Thanks! PS- --Characters will be 8th level at the start of the game. We will not level up in the course of the weekend (see below for an exception), but you will have a chance to improve your character in other ways. --My plan is to arrive around 6 on Friday night, we'll play until 2am or so and start again around noon on Saturday. Then, we'll play until we're all sick of it (I'm aiming for 2am or so). --I'll provide some snacks and soda, but please bring something to augment, as I may not get enough for everyone for the whole weekend. We can do frozen pizzas, make food runs, or order delivery in the course of the weekend if we need some real food. Also, I found out that October 18th is the day of the Extra Life Gaming Marathon. This is a fundraiser where people are asked to play video games for 24 hours and get their friends and family to sponsor them. The money that is raised goes to the Texas Children's Cancer Center. Now I know it's not a video game, but I thought that we could still try to raise some money for this great cause by playing DnD. So, I'm not asking you to go out and get sponsors or anything, but anyone that brings me a donation (the goal is $24, $1/hour of the marathon, but anything will do), will get to level up their character to 9th level for Saturday. I wish I could offer more, but 9th level is a big level for a lot of classes, so maybe it will be worth it to you. Here's the link to the hospital's site if you'd like to get more info: http://waystogive.texaschildrens.org/NetCommunity/Page.aspx?pid=212&srci... |

One last call out, if people
One last call out, if people are interested in joining Siren and I for an all weekend DnD game let us know.
Here is the latest flurby post my wife has made else board:
The mail courier arrives, bearing the most important letter you have ever received...the response to your application to the Dorvosh School. You stand there looking at the envelope for a few minutes, afraid to open it for fear of what it might say. Eventually you muster the nerve and with shaking hands you break the seal on the envelope.
'The Dorvosh School of Magic and Adventuring would like to thank you for your application. We received it in good order. Your credentials are very impressive, and we would like to congratulate you on being accepted to our program.
'As we are sure you know, no value can be placed on a degree from Dorvosh. It will easily guarantee you acceptance into any adventuring group, and a group consisting of Dorvosh graduates can easily set any price they would like on their services. With this in mind, we do not charge tuition for your attendance; we simply ask that you remember your alma mater in, and after, your future exploits.
'Our program at Dorvosh is a three year program. During the first year you will be allowed two week long breaks to return home to take care of your responsibilities, visit your family and friends, or however you would like to spend your time. Of course, you are welcome to stay on our campus during these breaks, if you would prefer. If you succeed during the first year, you will be asked to return for the second year. Each year's study will consist of classes as well as supervised adventuring missions. Together, your scores in the classes and the results on the missions will determine your grade for the year.
'Please arrive at the Dorvosh campus on the 17th day of October in this year. Remember to leave at home any items of significant value that you may own. If you would rather bring them with you, we will gladly store them in our vault during the school year so that they may be safely kept. Any other supplies or accessories that you need to complete the program will be supplied for you by Dorvosh.
'Congratulations again on being offered this opportunity. We hope that you will be able to take full advantage of it. Please respond within the next week, if you accept this offer.
'Sincerely,
'Madame Darr
'Headmistress of Dorvosh School of Magic and Adventuring
