Great Northern Battle Two
Siege Warfare
Changes from the first Great Northern Battle:
1.Victory is achieved by eliminating all of the other team's siege weapons.
2.Life Air Horn – Every five minutes (approximately) the air horn will alert all dead souls to rush back to their bases and call alive. Remember from last year – unlimited lives for everyone!
3.Any players may become a siege operator and siege weapons need three players minimum to be operated. Players cannot move or use the enemy's siege weapon(s). You can only operate and move your own team's siege weapon.
4.Siege weapons can ONLY be destroyed by the other team's siege weapon and cannot be enchanted in any way.
5.“Heavy weight” of the siege weapons – all siege weapons can only be carried as far as a certain point on the field for each time the Air Horn Blows. (Sort of like downs in football)
6.“Sphere of Annihilation defense” for ranged siege weapon attacks – Shots can be dodged, but NOT blocked – except by being shot out of the sky by a Sphere of Annihilation.
7.Any attack by a siege weapon that is impeded by a player will be considered to have gone through that player (splat). Reeves will determine whether the attack would have hit.
8.Finite number of ranged shots – Siege Teams using ranged shots will have to recover their ammunition. The opposing team cannot move/hide the expended ammo.
2 ideas. first, since this
2 ideas. first, since this is a midieval event, and airhorns are not cheap, i have a few different viking or shell horns you could borrow.
second. if the only way to win is bust the other seige weapons, what fun is it for the rest of the players not on seige crews?
solution: award points for all kills of any player by seige or any other means. (Dead report to nirvana for scoring) game is over when clock runs out or a team is out of seige weapons, most poins wins.
also asign a huge number of points for busting a siege weapon, 15 or so asumming 1 point per player killed
while on points, why not 1 point per level of player killed? it seems only fair to award more points for taking out a level 6 wizard (no small feat) than for a lv. 1 monk. (no disrespect to monks, just picked a random class)
If the horns are loud
If the horns are loud enough-great! I didn't pick up an air horn yet and other ideas are welcome. I was also considering just using a whistle.
As to your second point, I changed it so that any players can jump on their own siege weapon. Also, the siege operators are going to need defense against enemy players.
GRAPESHOT KICKS ASS! um, i
GRAPESHOT KICKS ASS!
um, i think.
5 hits with grapeshot pieces will kill a siege weapon, right? ("count as red projectiles and do damage as normal") or is it melee and solid shot seige weapons only
I think that would be
I think that would be alright, but I would only count one hit out of each volley. We can discuss what types of shots (grapeshot or single) would be reasonable for busting the siege weapons. All of this could be hammered out by practicing with them as well.
The essence of the game will be that only siege weapons can destroy each other.
1/life abilites seem pretty
1/life abilites seem pretty straightforward for this, but what's the rule on 1/game abilities. Same as usual or do we get to use them a couple extra times?
The Most Important Rule:
Every Rule has an Exception.
Except this one.
And including this one.
This Rule is its own Exception.
Just once per game, choose
Just once per game, choose spells accordingly. Last time we did this, most people burned through their normal amount of lives.
What about last life
What about last life abilities? Example: Barbar berzerk on last life or last 2 lives. If there are infinite lives then no berzerk? Or do they count down their lives in a normal life pool, berzerk, then restart in a second life pool? In which case wouldn't/shouldn't 1/game abilities do the same?
Last year we had Berserk
Last year we had Berserk considered a per game ability that could be used on any life. I think this is too good of an advantage for Barbarians because they have so much more freedom on when they can use their Berserk. Mind you, I am a 6th level Barbarian and I strongly hold this view.
However, since they have no last life, the best option remains the same - it is simply a per game ability.
That's a good point.
That's a good point. Especially since the only ability a newer barbarian (like one of my friends) has is going beserk.
The Most Important Rule:
Every Rule has an Exception.
Except this one.
And including this one.
This Rule is its own Exception.
The only thing is that if it
The only thing is that if it is like last year, you burn through lives really fast. You play this, at least in my opinion, much different than standard class battle because you have unlimited lives.
Get in the way of one of my
Get in the way of one of my grapeshot vollies and you shall burn through lives even faster!
SIEGE! um, i mean REDREDREDREDREDRED!
I hope your right - it would
I hope your right - it would be cool to see a whole group of players killed by a single volley.
