How was it? I was home sick
How was it? I was home sick and really wanted to go. Dillon wouldn't stop talking about it till this morning(only cause he fell asleep).
In my opinion the best event
In my opinion the best event I have been to yet. No arguing, no bullcrap, just a bunch of people out having fun. Despite all the bitching down here about the rules for the battle game, I have heard nothing but positives since. The most positive being "yeah this was a great way to make sure everyone was on the field at the end". No one likes being shattered.

totally sweet! the side with
totally sweet! the side with the headbands won...being my side of course. I knew whatever side i put petrus on would lose (j/k). I'm hoping to see some footage of the battle up soon.
Kurok SMASH!!

i think what you meant to
i think what you meant to say was... what ever side they put you and me on( and gary, theo, chris..ect).
We really need some people
We really need some people to volunteer to bring items for the potluck BBQ. I was hoping that Frostlanders could supply Grills, Charcoal and Lighter Fluid so no one else has to lug those items from afar.
I have a grill i can bring
I have a grill i can bring if i can fit it into my car. I can also bring the punch, potato salad, banana bread, and the trash bags. Did we find out if some of the frostlands are bringing anything?
Yeah, I am bringing Chips
Yeah, I am bringing Chips and 200 wings from Buffalo Wild Wings. 100 Mild flavored, 100 Honey BBQ. :-)
I have asked everyone in the park to bring food. I treated it like a pot luck. Told them all to bring something, except chips. Otherwise there will be 100 bags of chips and nothing else.
Eisen will be bringing his grill and I unfortunatly do not have my little grill anymore. Seems I left it in the garage, the garage flooded this winter and now it's pure rust. In which case we cook the vegitarian entrees first.
Eisen and I are both bringing Tables (we should have 3 or more). There is also a heavy duty picnic bench on site that would be perfect for HQ. ITs very heavy. Eisen, Quarteg and I all also have Easy Ups. These will be at your disposal (total of 4).
There will be a porta potty on site, because there has been a problem with the bathrooms (last week they were not open yet do to some weather damage). The Frostlands is covering the cost, but we will have a donation jar near it for those feeling generous. For those who need a full bathroom (and the ones on site are not available) there will be caravans going to the nearby gas station.

Sounds good! I have
Sounds good! I have everything I need for HQ, but those things will be great for the potluck BBQ. If you get there earlier than me, set up the BBQ stuff and easy-ups near the intersection of the gravel roads. The field in front should be reserved for ditching and the field in back will be set up for the battle.
What time are you going to
What time are you going to be there. I was planning on leaving Omro around 10. Puts me at the park around 10:20.
I ordered the wings for 3:00pm. That way they are fresh. We will need to send someone to get them (myself if not in the middle of battle, otherwise I can call and tell them who is picking them up).
Duke of the Frostlands.
I won't be there until about
I won't be there until about 12:30
I know Eisen is bringing his
I know Eisen is bringing his gas grill. I have a little charcole one for vegitarian cooking. I was planning on Fereck's grill but he will be in Florida.
I will bring it up on the Frostlands yahoo group and see how many more we can get.

I can bring some hot dogs
I can bring some hot dogs and buns, like seven packages of each? Also the big yellow drink cooler thing, if someone wants to bring ice to keep some water cold in it. But if lighter fluid or charcoal is more desperately needed, I can bring that instead, since I'll most likely be coming from Oshkosh anyway...
Water sounds good. Maybe it
Water sounds good. Maybe it would be easier if those who bring grills should just bring the charcoal or propane needed for them.
Oh, and hot dogs are perfect.
Could someone in Green Bay
Could someone in Green Bay hold a Headband and Sash Making Night? I will definitely try to make it down, but I need someone to volunteer a location. It can be whenever time best suits you as long as it's before the GNB.
The goal will be to make as many headbands and Raider Sashes as we can. No sewing is necessary, so this could be at anyone's place.
Thanks in advance!
Yay, headbands made! I'll
Yay, headbands made! I'll bring them saurday and give them to someone who will be at the GNB.
you say that as though you
you say that as though you won't be there...
Awesome, I made a bunch of
Awesome, I made a bunch of Raider headbands/sashes as well.
Also, everyone who can bring their own headbands needs to do so. I would like to point out that if you bring your own headband, it can be more personalized to your persona. With the headbands Redesta has made and many people bringing their own, we should be good. But more can't hurt.
Thinking ahead for some
Thinking ahead for some reason, are there garbage cans there? I think I can handle bringing bags to put garbage in if need be. And what was decided about the food? Is it going to be potluck? I can bring the punch and something to pass.
Yes, it is going to be
Yes, it is going to be potluck-style so bring plenty of the delicious punch. Also, bringing extra trash bags would be good. I'm sure there are other things, such as trash bags, that I neglected to mention.
I plan on bringing most of
I plan on bringing most of the items on the list. I know many of us plan on bringing a number of these items, but it never hurts to bring extra.
I can't bring Grills/Charcoal/Lighter Fluid/Utensils/Paper Plates/Cups/Napkins. Nor can I possibly bring enough food or beverages for everyone.
So I hope some folks can step forward and bring these items.
I will at least have my 6
I will at least have my 6 "raider" swords, plus a couple others I don't mind lending out.

Is the food going to be a
Is the food going to be a potluck style? If thats the case we should try to get everyone to bring a little of something.
I ended up with a lot of the bowls & plates from our midreign so I can bring what is left from that.
Siren and I will volunteer
Siren and I will volunteer to bring a few flats of water (approx 100 bottles).

Siren has material to make
Siren has material to make two banners. If all goes well they will be about 5' across and 6' long. At the moment she is expecting them to be top supported, but we can use some ideas for how to put them on Poles. The default is PVC, but other options will be explored as they arrise. Suggestions are welcome.
PVC should be fine. Just
PVC should be fine. Just use something with a large enough diameter to keep it from wobbling too much.
If anyone thinks they can
If anyone thinks they can make decent Banner Poles I'd appreciate it. I'm not the most skilled with PVC but I'll give it a try if no one else can do it. If you have the time and know how, let me know.
At the moment Siren is planning on them being 'top' supported, so a banner pole with a 'T' shaped top will be needed. At the moment she is planning on them being 5'x 6' but this is adjustable.
as long as I have a drill
as long as I have a drill (drill bits would be nice, too, and a chuck to change them), pvc cleaner, pvc epoxy, and a hacksaw, all I need is pipe, fittings, and eyelet bolts, nuts, and washers. I'm fairly good with the stuff... I have a bit of a feel for its quirks. The hardest part is finding the right materials.
I put the T bar together for
I put the T bar together for holding the Banners, we'll see if it lasts. I just used the cement that was recommended for the grey pvc like stuff, seems to be holding for now. The poles are close to 10 feet tall and the Banners my wife made are 4’x5’ and look awesome.
If you have the hardware and drill and want to make it more permanent, you’re more then welcome to bring it along.
I still don’t have a great way for ‘holding’ the banner poles up. If all else fails I plan to strap them to a couple of Easy Ups.
Banner poles are pretty
Banner poles are pretty easy- just drill a couple holes near the top and at the height of the banner down on the pipe, put an eyelet bolt through each hole and a nut and/or washer on the other side and just like that, you have a banner pole. Paint to your liking, or just leave it bare.
I'm actually more worried
I'm actually more worried about keeping them standing in the wind since I doubt anyone would enjoy being a Banner Barrier for the entire event. Though I may consider it.
I'm planning on doing a T with some pvc like stuff. Just have to come up with a way to keep them standing. I have some poles I can create tri pods with, or perhaps attach them to a Pop up. I'm planning on picking one up, just have to find a second, then each of the 'bases' could have a covered area.
We'll get it figured, we have several almost 36 hours, plenty of time.
I can show you ways of them
I can show you ways of them being held up- I thought you meant for units... like the color-bearer for a flight or squadron of airmen (or a company or regiment of soldiers, for that matter). A rig to hold up personal colors can be made- there are several documented examples in Japanese culture- samurai often had personal banners flying off of their backs in such a rig. For static banners, though, it's a pretty simple matter of sand-filled PVC- provided one can find the right fittings. A quick trip to the hardware store (or Fleet Farm... or Menard's, if you're really desperate) and you're on your way!
Honestly, though, you could just drill a few holes (at 120 degrees apart, and not too close- we want the pipe to stay standing and not break even in heavy winds; I'd say 2 inches apart or so... and strap the heck out of that section and 3 inches beyond it on either side), and do the rig I had mentioned earlier only this time run guy wires, using tent stakes to secure the lines. A post-hole digger is a boon here as it'll provide a natural place to anchor the mast- one could even break up the slug that comes out of the hole and bury the mast in the hole with it.
Heck, you could even use a combination of the above (with or without post holes) and have yourself a hurricane-ready (okay not quite that much wind... more like gale-force wind protected [not unusual to see gales here in WI]) portable banner pole. Put some bright foam balls on the cables (think painted bobbers or drilled super balls) spaced 12-18 inches apart and you have them clearly marked so people know where the lines are.
Wow. sometimes I even amaze myself at the construction methods I come up with. It's not unlike putting up a tower or antenna stanchion, though.
was a great event, though I
was a great event, though I forgot my sunscreen and got a little toasty.
I can bring headbands, if
I can bring headbands, if you let me know what colours you're using. And if I find some sort of black and white fabric cheap, I'll let you know and get some sashes made.
The color of the headbands
The color of the headbands doesn't matter, but I would avoid red - could be mistaken for a Barbarian raging.
Also, fabric that stretches a little makes for a better headband.
We might want to post this
We might want to post this on the NEWAmtgard and Glacial Halls groups, since many of those outside of our two parks read those.
I have the first Aid kits covered. The Frostlands has a couple and I have mine.
I am trying to make as many 'loaner' weapons as possible, but if we do this right we could have alot of newbies and I would appreciate any and all weapons people have be brought, including non swords. I can remember I was alot more excitted picking up an axe and spear than a sword when I was new.
Duke of the Frostlands.
Or... we could just invite
Or... we could just invite them via those lists to come to participate in our already-going discussions on here... That way they don't miss out on that which has already been discussed.
Not a bad point. I have over
Not a bad point.
I have over 20 loaner weapons now made, mostly shorts, but a few daggers, poles, longs, and a couple exotic.
I can also 'donate' some of the weapons I made for Ministry of Dragons (formerly Firey Nights). That will double my available loaners.
Do we have extra shields? I have a few of my personal shields (a small, and a couple of mediums). I also have the foam to build a bunch more but not the finances to buy the handles and straps to make them.
