The Great Garbers' ChallengeI'd like to announce The Great Garber's Challenge at this year's GAC (or whatever we end up calling it). This will be a challenge in the style of Project Runway. Basically, you will have from Friday night before the night quest until the bardic on Saturday to create a piece of garb that fits the theme, which will be presented on Friday night. You can work in teams of two people consisting of a "designer" and a "model". The model will wear the piece of garb for a runway show during the bardic, where the piece will be judged by a panel. There will be prizes for the first place team, and maybe more than that depending on how much I end up spending. Each team should provide three 1-yard pieces of fabric of their choice. You may also bring as many supplies and notions as you'd like. I would highly suggest a minimum of a pair of scissors and a needle and thread. But, I will have extras on hand for anyone that forgets. I will provide any other supplies that are required. If you are interested, or if you have any questions, feel free to contact me by email (PMing Boboko works) or on this thread. --Siren (not Boboko, I'm just using his account) |

I'd like all of the construction to be done on-site, so as to be fair to the people that have to travel. But, if you'd like to drag down a machine, you're welcome to use it.
Of course, I won't promise that you'll have access to electricity there. :-)

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I was busy with GNB stuff. :-)
Yes, patterns count as supplies. And, yes, I would love for anyone to participate even if you aren't staying on site.
What I had imagined was that you would get to use whatever you want, but you would only have limited ability to buy new stuff after knowing the challenge. But, now that I think about it, anyone could drive to Oskkosh and buy patterns or whatever on Saturday, so I'm not going to limit it at all.
Just make the best piece that you can, within the bounds of the challenge.
