I am interested in mecs. Does anybody have extra used ones that they would be willing to sell? (I am cheap and don't wanna buy new if i wouldn't have to)If not i will keep looking for used ones but if somebody finds some cheap ones let me know were to get them

Play it again Sports sells used ones for $10 a pair. That's where I got mine.
I am not sure what you are
I am not sure what you are exactly thinking for how you are going to be making these, but if you are thinking steel greaves, I was also going to originally going to try and make something, but I found a pair at www.medievalcollectibles.com for $30. They actually have several different styles at really good prices. Once I considered materials time and quality of product they were definitely worth it. I wear knee pads and they are very comfortable.
Well the main reason to
Well the main reason to attach the leather to mecs is so they dont look tacky... which they normaly do.
I am going to be buying some mecs very soon and this is just my idea on how to make them amtgard... not so crapy.
it sucks coming home on saturdays with bloody shins im going to try and fix that lol

S H A D E
I feel for ya man. We're working on some chain legs myself for some leg protection. everyone keeps going for my legs as well for every kill shot in class battles or quests. unless they siege me of course. then i just yell "dammit!!" lol

Or a healer stun... or a sword to plow shares or two... lol
From somone who has been
From somone who has been fighting Sword and Board for over 3 years now i will say leg armour is the most important followed by arm and then body (if you are any good you can cover your body with your sheild) ;o)
Mechs, protective eye items, and padded gloves are in my opinion a must if you wish to do amtgard for long and not kill your body. If you need good places to get any of those just let myself or anyone that uses them know. Trust me after a few years if you don't use them (mechs for sure) you will feel it and ask Donovan about not being able to use your knees after too many years without them....

Also if you plan on fighting
Also if you plan on fighting in any bridge battle type of fights or fights involving many heavy pole arm, i recommend a hockey helmet or other type of protective head gear. I still need to get myself one.

Since the rulebook quite
Since the rulebook quite blatantly says not to do headshots, that should be unnecessary. Now, I know several people that use poles fight with them in a VERY dangerous way (i.e. holding them straight up in the air and slamming them on peoples heads). Should I have to buy a helmet because some people are jerks? Well, I guess that's the real questions, now isn't it?

what fun is life without the ocasional brain injury?
seriously though, a helmet would not be a bad idea. after 2 years casino security and another bouncing fo various bars or concerts, i for one dont need any more blows to the head.
