A few questions

Mr_Kors's picture

First off, thanks to everyone for the help thus far. Now, I just have a few other specific questions...

-Can a person make and use a double-edged spear (stab locations on both ends of spear)?

-Do all sheilds need to be covered in cloth?

-Do all weapons need to be covered in cloth?

thanks again to everyone...we (a few friends and I) have created two swords after watching videos and reading stuff.

duel spear - if you mean

duel spear - if you mean like a staff, then off course. if you mean stab only on both ends then probly no. technically it should be approved by the monarch, but due to spear rules and how the duel spear may be used, you would need to make it a strike legal staff. you can always make a super long staff and just stab with it. if you're using both sides a staff is better anyways since not all class can use spears.

shields and weapons - all must be covered. material used is at your descretion as long as its approved as safe. cloth is strongly suggested

would cloth tape be considered a sufficient cloth covering?

It would, but it will make

It would, but it will make your gear a bit heavy. Morden has many weapons with cloth tape. All of them are extremely sturdy, look great, but are much heavier than most weapons.

If you are a strong enough fellow, the cloth tape will be fine. You just won't be able to make many trick shots.

Cloth Tap has other issues,

Cloth Tap has other issues, it doesn't handle cold well and has a fairly high level of friction/grip on a contact with flesh.

Cloth is alot better for a cover and the basic sewing skills needed to do it aren't really that hard. Many people are available to help with this if you need guidance.

Just as a frame of reference, this is coming from someone who thinks pvc swords are "so heavy". So I am sure the extra ounce or two the cloth tape adds would make it seem like wielding a 4x4.

PVC is heavy. And wobbly

PVC is heavy. And wobbly for anything longer than a short sword.

A better frame of reference is that I consider drinking beers to be equivalent to pumping iron. 12 ounces at a time, baby!
